***REOPENED AS LITTLE DOODLES PLAY CAFE***

So you may be asking… what is Snickerdoodles?

Close your mind and imagine a play room in a Starbucks. Sounds awesome, right?

Snickerdoodles in an indoor playspace, which Raleigh certainly needs more of. It also has a low cost of $3 for admission

So it’s not a playground. It’s a playroom. It has a small kitchen and tool bench, dollhouse. A few dress up clothes. Other toys similar to what you have at home. The toys are in decent shape, but certainly used and some are missing pieces.

There is a small coffee shop and snacks to buy. Snickerdoodles asks you not to bring your own, they do allow sippy cups and bottles. The snacks are toddler-eye level and tempting. Several healthy options available.

Overall the space is small. It looks similar to a preschool style set up.

It’s not big. It gets full FAST. I’ve been twice and both times there is just one person working the snack counter and who is overwhelmed by coffee orders and snack requests. The prices are reasonable, however and healthy options for snacks too, which is nice.

If you have a budding artist, there is a paint space you can use for $5 ($4 for siblings). Unlimited use of paint and paper. Easels and tables are available for use. You can also purchase wooden objects for painting.

The art space is good in theory. I have 2 budding artists, so it would cost me $9 at least. I could buy a good bit of paint and paper for that price. So I’ve never done it. But if it saves your sanity then it is a great idea.

I love this idea in theory. Meet a mom friend for coffee while your kids play. Indoors. Sounds perfect. But it is just. so. cramped. The bathroom is over a baby gate and through the art space. Not the easiest to get to and there is just one.  My 4 year old daughter gets bored in 2 minutes and is ready to go. My 2 year old lasts a bit longer. I have heard they are looking for a bigger space, if they move I’ll be sure to visit and update. Also, like most places, afternoons are much less crowded since many children nap at that time.

I think this place may be better suited for the younger toddler group. My kids are just bored quickly because we have many of the toys at home already.

In in all honesty will probably not be back (unless it’s to review a new space). But check it out for yourself. Like I said, not many other indoor playspaces. You could check out Greystone Rec Center and Rainbow playroom for other indoor options. Rainbow playroom has a playspace for younger tots. But Greystone is definitely geared for older children. Another awesome indoor option is Historic Oak View County Park.
