We visited Piney Town Playhouse in Fuquay-Varina a few years ago when it was still known as The Playhouse Children’s Museum. It is now under new ownership, and while it still contains the cutest tiny town perfect for kid-sized imaginative play, the new owners have added a few new offerings that I know you will love!

Imaginative play in the tiny town

Piney Town Playhouse contains a tiny town that will let your kids’ imaginations run wild! Your children will have free rein in their very own kid-sized grocery store, farm, police station, car mechanic, theater, and play house, plus all of the dress-up clothes and props to make it feel like the real deal!

You will be amazed at the attention to detail! The mechanic shop has a car that can be disassembled for repairs. The doctor’s office has all of the equipment needed to treat your patient. The farm has plants that can be planted and harvested. There’s even a mailbox where you can pretend to deliver the letters to each shop!

Designed for kids 6 & Under

There’s no age limit for admission, but based on our experience I would say that Piney Town Playhouse is geared more toward the 6 and under crowd. However, that may depend on your child’s personality and temperament.

My 5-year-old boy absolutely loved this playhouse, and I loved seeing his creativity! He spent time dressing up as a doctor and giving me pretend shots. The firefighter coat turned him into a firefighter and he saved us all from fires. He put on a theater production with his sister where he juggled chickens and did a puppet show. The construction hat turned him into an engineer and he built me a house. He was in heaven the whole time we were there and didn’t want to leave!

My 7-year-old girl spent most of her time in the construction area building her own pretend house. She carefully stacked all of the bricks and strategically placed flowers to decorate. She enjoyed this time by herself but eventually was able to share her supplies with others. 😅 When we left she told me she loved Piney Town and would like to have her birthday party there!

My 8-year-old enjoyed playing at first but did lose interest after a while. There were a lot of young toddlers there during our visit, so she was unable to make a friend to play with. She enjoyed the theater stage and treehouse, and for the last half hour, she played on the light table making shapes and patterns. Overall she still had fun, but it may not be a playspace that she will choose to revisit.

Separate Baby Play Area

Parents of babies and toddlers, you’ll be happy to know there is a separate fenced-in baby play area. Your baby can play peacefully while still watching all of the action in the main play area through the glass wall.

Cafe and Parent Seating

Piney Town Playhouse is one of those great spots where parents can get some work done while their kids play. There is free wifi and a great parent seating area. If hunger strikes, there are snacks and coffee available for purchase. We didn’t eat while we were there but instead headed next door to Daddy D’s BBQ for lunch. It was super convenient after a morning of play!

Party Room

The best new addition to Piney Town Playhouse is the party room! This is a new super cute space that will help with all of your birthday party needs! Party packages are available online and include  2 hours of exclusive use of The Playhouse, games, drinks, party hosts, and seating for 25. We’ll add this to our list of birthday party locations across the triangle!

Open Play Admission & Pricing

If you plan to visit for open play, I recommend making a reservation in advance. They will accept walk-ins, but not if they have reached capacity. Reservations are made for 2-hour time increments. Pricing is comparable to other indoor play areas at $14 per kid with a discount if you bring multiple children.

Socks are required for kids and adults in the playhouse but are available for purchase if you forget. Coffee and snacks are available for purchase onsite, and memberships are also available if you plan to visit more than 3 times per month.
