Brier creek park playground is one of my top recommendations if you have young toddlers aged 2 and under!

(Also see Plantation Point for another great toddler playground)

Train Themed Playground

What makes this playground so great for the youngest of toddlers? First of all, it is train themed! I have found that most toddlers of any age have a fascination with trains.

The equipment is also very low to the ground and has a rubberized surface. The structures are easy to maneuver and there is no risk of falling from tall structures. Even the one structure that is a little higher is still pretty easy to handle for the youngest tots! There are no high play structures here so you can pretty much let your toddler run wild wherever they want to go. However, the playground is not fenced and is in direct sun, so plan accordingly.

Each section of the playground is a separate part of the train. I love this little structure made like a little train car and picnic table, which makes for lots of pretend play!

Picnic Shelter and Restrooms

The picnic shelter is located right next to the playground and is pretty large. There are always families posted up under the shade enjoying a snack! This would make it a great place for a birthday party!

Just a side note, this playground is NOT right next to the community center like most are. So if you need to go to the community center too I recommend a stroller for the walk. Fortunately this playground has it’s own bathrooms and picnic shelter so it’s likely you wouldn’t need the community center anyway.

Field and Walking Path

Also adjacent to the playground is a huge open field, so you can let your kids run laps or kick around a soccer ball.

There’s also a small walking trail around the field that is perfect for riding bikes or scooters. I’ve seen lots of families bring their bikes here for practice. If you have older kids you can let the do the loop by themselves because you can see the whole path from the playground!

Pros:

  • Very user friendly for small toddlers who are just getting used to playgrounds
  • Cute train theme
  • Covered area with picnic tables
  • Decent bathrooms with a changing table.
  • adjacent to a large field

Cons

  • The only shaded area is over the picnic tables. The playground itself is pretty direct sun
  • Older kids may quickly get bored with this playground – consider bringing other toys or entertainment if you have an older child with you.
  • playground is not fenced in
