4800 Quail Hollow Drive, Raleigh, NC

Eastgate Park is an awesome 25 acre park in the Quail Hollow Subdivision that offers a variety of activities for your family to enjoy. The best part is that it is completely shaded and fenced, plus has a rubber surface playground, so it’s a top favorite park to visit on hot summer days! In addition to the playground, Eastgate park also has tennis courts, basketball courts, a small pond, several picnic areas, and a large field.

Playground

The fully enclosed playground area is separated into 2 sections for older and younger children. I love that it is completely fenced in, especially since I have to keep an eye on multiple children who do not always want to go in the same direction.

Little Kids Playground

The play structure is a little high for very young toddlers. However, young and older toddlers alike with love the music structure (who doesn’t like to bang on drums?). There is also a small sand play area area and 2 bucket swings.

Older Kids Playground

My daughter liked the blue igloo and of course immediately had to climb on top of it. Both play areas are a rubberized surface.

Picnic Area

Eastgate Park also has plenty of picnic areas and benches to stop for a rest or a snack. Just outside the playground they have these stone checker tables that make me think of the Flinstones. They each have a checker board pattern on the top of the tables, so bring your chess or checkers along for a quick game!

There’s also a lot of game boards printed onto the asphalt in front of the tennis courts. I don’t know all of these games, but I recognize hopscotch and four square! Bring some sidewalk chalk and I’m sure your kids will have a blast here!

Overall Impressions

So here are the pro’s:

  • Eastgate park is not just a playground, so if you want to incorporate other activities (like a little Geocaching) into your day, you wouldn’t have to drive anywhere else.
  • Fully fenced in playground with a gate allows you to give your children a little more freedom while they play (and give caregivers more peace of mind!)
  • The playground is very shaded, which will be nice in the upcoming summer days
  • Music area for toddlers. I LOVE anything that encourages the arts
  • Bathroom nearby, although it is a single stall only and no changing table.

Con’s

  • Parents who frequent this playground say it can get VERY busy.
  • The parking lot is small and can fill up, leaving you to have to park on the street and walk up to the park.
  • the bathroom has been very dirty the past few times I’ve been there

Eastgate Park is one of my favorites and I think it is worth a little drive even if you are not close by.Overall, Eastgate park is just a nice park in a very urban part of town. Have you been there? Let me know what you think!!
