Treerunner Raleigh Adventure park is an aerial adventure park in North Raleigh. The high-ropes course has over 70 exciting obstacles, three difficulty levels, and seven different courses. They also have a Junior Park for kids ages 3 to 7 that has some of the same obstacles located only a couple feet off the ground. We recently took our 4 and 5 year old and they spent a full hour climbing and swinging to their hearts content!

Junior Park Low Ropes Course

The Junior Park consists of two separate low ropes courses with various bridges, zip lines, and swinging ropes. Designed for ages 3 to 7, the course is only a couple feet off the ground, but your child will still use a harness and rope system for safety.

The harness uses an easy to use sliding rope system that does not need to be disconnected and reattached once your child starts the course. The rope will slide along with them as they progress through the obstacles, although it does get stuck on hills and over connectors. Luckily, my husband and I were able to easily reach up and help get the kids on their way, but due to those snags please note that this is a parent participation required activity.

Is it a challenging course?

The Junior Park course is a bit smaller and easier than I hoped. The high ropes course above our heads was a long course, with lots of different challenging obstacles. The Junior low ropes course repeated the same easy bridge, swinging ropes, and zip line throughout the two separate course sections. There are 5 obstacles on each section, making a total of 10. Three of those obstacles are zip lines.

Of course, the easy obstacles made it enjoyable for the kids since they were able to complete everything without struggle. My 2.5 year old was even able to go through the course with help from me. We hadn’t paid for him to harness up, but I was able to walk alongside him and hold his hand while he traversed the course.

Overall, I would have liked to see my kids take on more challenging tasks. It would be nice if Treerunner replicated some of the high ropes obstacles at the junior park as well. Otherwise, my girls will be in for quite a shock moving from the easy junior course up to the high ropes challenge!

How long does it take?

My kids ran through the two Junior courses in about 10 minutes. The good news is that your admission covers a full 2 hours at the park, so you can do the course over and over again as much as you want! My kids probably went through the course 10 times while we were there. We only stayed an hour since it was a hot, humid July evening. Luckily for mom, everyone was so tired afterwards that they passed out as soon as their heads hit the pillow!

How much does it cost?

The junior park is $20 per child for two hours in the park. Book a reservation for Wednesday or Thursday between 3 PM – 6 PM and receive 20% off. Use code EarlyBird20 at check-out.

Unless they reach capacity, I doubt they would kick you out once your two hours are up. We took our time and went through the course many times. We only saw the staff members at the beginning so they could help us harness and show us the course. Other than that you are on your own!

Even though the Junior course is a bit smaller than I hoped, I definitely recommend this fun activity for the whole family! The older kids can do the high ropes course while the younger kids can still feel included by going through the Junior park.

  1. did you take a 3 year old? the website says 4-7 years. my 3yo would LOVE this but not sure they’d let him in. He is small so couldn’t pass for a 4 year old but he’d be totally fine.

    1. Hmm.. the sign at the park said ages 3-7 but the website says 4. Honestly I think a 3 year old could do it with help. My 2.5 year old wasn’t harnessed in but I let him walk around and he did great! I don’t think they would care but call if it won’t let you reserve a spot online!
