North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced Phase 2.5 of the COVID-19 pandemic will begin on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 5:00 pm and will continue through at least October 2, 2020.

NC Phase 2.5 Parent’s Guide to restrictions

Mass Gatherings

Indoor mass gatherings are now limited to 25 people.

Outdoor mass gatherings are now limited to 50 people.

Worship, religious, and spiritual gatherings, funeral ceremonies, and wedding ceremonies are exempt.

😷Face Coverings

Face coverings are now required for children age 5 and above, which has changed for the previous age of 11. There is an exception if a medical or behavioral condition or disability would prevent a child from wearing one, or if a parent has been unable to safely place one on the child’s face.

🟢Playgrounds are OPEN and Entertainment and Sporting Events can occur!

Playgrounds can resume normal operations.

At large venues, the Staff, Entertainers, performers, and athletes, along with their coaches, training, support, and broadcast staff do not count toward the Mass Gathering limit. However, spectators are limited to 25 indoors and 50 outdoors.

🟢Indoor play and fitness centers open at 30% capacity

This includes:

•Indoor Playgrounds
•Exercise facilities ( e.g., yoga studios, dance studios, ballrooms for dancing, martial arts facilities, gymnastics, indoor trampoline and rock climbing facilities)
• Gyms and fitness centers
• Fitness or competitive facilities, such as basketball courts, baseball fields, volleyball courts, hockey rinks, soccer fields, sports teams and leagues, professional or amateur wrestling, and tennis courts.
• Boxing clubs
• Skating rinks
• Bowling alleys
• Golf courses and driving ranges
• Mini-golf courses
• Go-cart tracks, speedways, and raceways
• Paintball, laser tag, and similar fields and arenas

🟢Museums and Aquariums open at 50% capacity

Museums and aquariums may open at 50% capacity. Visitors must remain within mass gathering limits.

❌Entertainment Facilities must remain closed

This includes:

• Movie theaters (except for drive-in theaters or movies shown in a park or other open outdoor space)
• Arcades
• Amusement parks
• Tour or sightseeing buses or trains
• Bars, night clubs, and pool halls
