2100 Old North Carolina Highway

My family and I attended the grand opening of Forest Ridge Park last weekend, for phase one of the park. The master plan includes adding a ropes course, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and hiking trails, campsites, and lodging. So it’s a huge undertaking. Currently the park has a community center, a playground, multi-use trails and disc golf.

Unfortunately I only have a few photos:

playground picture from Raleigh Parks website
you can see the shelter, field, and playground are all right near each other.
egg to hide in!
ride on dinosaur!
standing sand and water table at the playground
giant sand pit located down the walking trail

I’ll add pics of the play stuctures when I can. The play structure that stands out from other parks? A zip line! Kids loved it, although it can be troublesome for younger kids who don’t realize that they’re toddling right in front of it.

Looking for a zip line on the other side of town? Check out Sassafras. I also loved dinosaur that 2 kids can ride. Makes for adorable pics.

There is a sand table… strange. Not sure how I feel about it, other than I am sure the sand won’t stay in it. The park has swings and baby swings. Covered picnic areas around the playground. But NO shade. Like none. So, definitely check out during the cooler months. I don’t see visiting this one during the summer. Bathrooms are easily accessible from playground and picnic areas.

Have you been? What do you think? I’m excited to see this park continue to develop.

Pros

  • zip line
  • bathrooms
  • picnic shelters
