By far the most popular Christmas gift received in our house this year has been the Toniebox story and music player! My 3 year old has been playing with it non-stop, and my 4 and 6 year old have been stealing it from him regularly! I love that it’s a great way to spend time without screens, and it’s so easy for their little hands to control!
What is a Toniebox?
The Toniebox is an imagination-building, screen-free digital listening experience that reads stories, sings songs, and plays whatever you want to record! About the Toniebox
You may be wondering, why do I need a Toniebox when I have other music players already? This is so different than anything else you may already have at home! It is designed specifically for kids 3 and up and makes it so easy for them to control their own listening experience. All they have to do to start the music is place a Tonie character on the top of the box. It will immediately begin playing and will even start back at the same spot in the song if removed and replaced. Ready for the next song? Just tap the side of the Toniebox to change tracks. Tilting the box will make it fast forward or rewind. The only buttons located on the box are for volume control.
Tonie Characters
Your child will be amazed by all of the Tonie Characters they can collect and play with. There are lots of familiar Disney/Pixar favorites like Elsa, Lightning McQueen, Woody, and Simba. You’ll also find other popular movie and book characters like Minions and The Gruffalo! Plus there are generic characters that will play classic stories and favorite kid’s songs. Each character includes popular songs and a story to listen to, with about 30 minutes of content.
My favorite by far is the Creative-Tonies! With Creative-Tonies, you can record up to 90 minutes of custom content. Whether favorite books recorded in your own voice, singing favorite songs, or preserving cherished family memories for the future, you can put your own creative, custom spin on your child’s Toniebox! You can even pick a diverse creative-tonie that looks like your child!
One unique feature is that you can send invitations to record content to family members across the world, so grandma can record a greeting to your child from the comfort of her own home! To get the message to download, all you have to do is put the creative-tonie back on the Toniebox and hold the volume button up for 3 seconds. It’s that easy!
I have a lot of unique songs I started singing to my kids when they were babies. Once we got our Toniebox I was able to record all of our special songs to the creative-tonie. Surprisingly enough, my 3 year old can’t get enough of mommy’s voice and he plays that tonie all day long! Next I’ll have to record myself reading one of his favorite books so he can turn the pages and read along with my voice!

We were given a creative-tonie and 3 characters, but we’ve already ordered two more that should be arriving soon! It’s addicting to collect your child’s favorite characters, and it’s fun hearing all of the old familiar songs! My favorite is the puppy tonie that plays a huge playlist of kid favorites like Old MacDonald, Wheels on the Bus, and Mary had a Little Lamb. My only complaint is that you have to keep up with the characters and try not to lose them! We’ve already lost one of ours somewhere in the abyss of a playroom. It’d be nice if they had a way to sound an alarm or something so you can find them! Hopefully they’ll consider adding that feature for all of us parents who are tired of searching for things! 😂
