1905 Spring Forest Road Raleigh, NC

Millbrook Exchange park is home to a community center, toddler playground, big kid playground, trails, basketball and tennis courts, a dog park, and the Millbrook Splash Pad and Wading Pool!

First thing to note is that they just recently partially fenced in this playground – say about 75% or so. I’m not sure how I feel about partially fenced in playgrounds, but I guess it does help. I’ll give it that. But part of me thinks that it is so close without being quite enough!

I definitely prefer fully gated playgrounds.

But, having said that, the Millbrook playgrounds are pretty nice. They have musical “instruments”, baby swings and a nice rubberized surface. The community center is close by with fairly easy access to bathrooms.

The bigger kids structure (5-12) is a little high and has some open areas that make me nervous with my 2 adventurous toddlers. But as I’ve said before, that is no fault of the playground. It is clearly marked as a 5-12 year old play space. But of course both of my kids ALWAYS head to those areas. Always.

Splash Pad and pool

You can read our full review of the splash pad here. It costs admission, but its a great spot to beat the heat in the summer!

Overall park impression

Pro’s:

  • Nice rubberized surface
  • Partially fenced in
  • Adjacent community center with bathrooms when the community center is open.
  • Nice trails for easy, toddler “hikes”
  • Other options too- the pool, dog park, picnic areas
  • partially shaded by trees

Con’s:

  • high equipment on the 5-12 year old play space (which may not be an issue for you)
  • Partially fenced, but not gated.
