Defy Raleigh, previously known as Defy Gravity, is a large indoor trampoline park with extra activities like a ninja obstacle course, jumping pillow, high swing, warped wall, and turbo jump. We like to go during kid jump so the little ones are surrounded by kids their own age.

KidJump at Defy Raleigh

Every Monday through Friday from 9am-10am is exclusively for parents and children ages 6 and under! During this time, one adult jumps free with the purchase of a kid ticket. They allow all ages to jump starting at 10am, but the free parent jump is offered between 9am-12pm. This is a great opportunity for the younger jumpers to play safely without getting trampled by the bigger kids.

Children aged 6 and under can also go during regular open jump hours, so they aren’t just limited to kid jump. The pricing is the same, but you’ll have to watch your little ones a lot more so they don’t get bounced by a bigger kid. You’ll also miss out on that free parent jump, but good news is that you can opt out of jumping altogether and just be a spectator/child assistant. Just ask for the pink wristband. I mean, you won’t really have time to really jump anyway since you’ll be chasing down the kids and helping them get out of the foam pit! Might as well save your money! 😄

jump and do flips into the foam pit

Heads up that they are pretty serious about the one hour jump time– you sign up on the hour and half hour. We got there around 9:15am but we couldn’t start jumping until 9:30am. You wear color coded bracelets with your time slot so they know when you have to leave.

You must buy the Defy socks and can’t use your own. We tried to use Sky Zone and Galaxy Fun Park socks, but they weren’t allowed even though they were the same type of grippy socks.

Attractions

In addition to lots of trampolines, Defy Raleigh also offers other activities like a ninja obstacle course, jumping pillow, high swing, warped wall, basketball, dodge-ball, and turbo jump.

Children 6 and under are not allowed on the jumping pillow and the turbo trampoline, but everything else was fair game. I was surprised they allowed the younger kids on the swings, but luckily my 4 year old was too scared to try it anyway. My 5 year old did great, and I didn’t even let me 2 year old get close! He did do great on the ninja obstacle course though, which really surprised me!

first time on the swing was a little wobbly, but she mastered it after that!

Admission and Pricing

Check their website for the most up to date pricing. When we went, it was the following prices for a one hour jump. You pay more for longer jump times.

  • 1 Hour – $14.49
  • 6 & Under – Flight – 1 Hour – $10.99
  • 2 & Under – Flight – 1 Hour – FREE

I actually think this would be a really fun date night, and I am thinking of setting this date up for me and the hubs for his birthday!

Pro’s:

  • My kids put up little to no fight at bedtime. Seriously. That was almost worth the money I spent! They had a blast and expended a ton of energy.
  • I love the kids only time. It’s easy to get jostled and knocked down with just little kids around. From a safety standpoint, I would much rather come when it’s just the little ones.
  • My daughter loves to jump. She sets aside time during the day just to “work on my jumps”. So this place obviously caters to that. It’s a good, controlled environment to just have fun jumping
  • Adults accompanying small children do not have to pay for admission. Just get a pink wrist band so you can observe.

Con’s:

  • It is NOT cheap and not something I can fit in the budget very often. If it was, we would go every day and then bedtimes would be awesome 🙂
  • Defy gravity does not allow running. I do not know how to explain that to toddlers, so much of the hour is spent saying “hey, remember no running!” The first time I went they were really strict about it This time, not as much.
  • The inevitable tantrum when your hour is up
  • Some parents may have safety concerns. Defy gravity does address some of these on their website. I did not personally have any concerns… I think it’s a fairly safe and controlled environment.

Let me know what you think!!
