** The Blue Jay Point playground was remodeled in Spring of 2021. See our updated Review HERE**

3200 Pleasant Union Church Road

Blue Jay Point is  a Wake County park off Falls Lake that is a part of the Wake County Junior Naturalist Program. It offers hiking, fishing, picnic areas and environmental education. It is a beautiful park, but this review will focus on the playground area available.

The playground area has big and little kid play structures and a sand area with metal ride on toys. It is adjacent to decent bathroom facilities. In the morning it is about 50% tree shade. Surface is wood chip and sand.

None of the structures are very high, my almost 2 year old was able to maneuver them without any assistance. There are picnic benches nearby that are nicely shaded.

Natural Play Space

Looking for something a bit different? Take a short walk to the natural playspace. It’s nice and shaded, we often end up here after the playground area gets too hot.

Pros:

  • Other activities available, if you want to hike or enjoy the lake as well
  • Shaded natural play area
  • Nice play structures that are not too high off the ground
  • Bathroom facilities available
  • Shaded picnic areas
  • Playground has very little shade, good for mornings or colder months
  • Education Center

Cons:

  • A little out of the way for most people I would imagine but otherwise no cons. If you are in the area or visiting Falls Lake, then definitely check this one out!
