2400 Aversboro Road, Garner

We headed out of Raleigh a bit to explore a couple of Garner parks: White Deer Park and just across the street Lake Benson Park. I haven’t been in Garner much, but it’s a cute town to drive through and both playground areas are really nice.

So nice when sunshades are available during the summer months. This playground has a smaller toddler structure (above) which is low to the ground and easy for little ones to climb on. For the older kids, a more complex climbing structure (see below). A covered picnic shelter and bathrooms nearby.

A couple of unique structures here as well. This circular “merry go round” style structure that actually moves quite slow. But for reasons I am unable to explain, my kids loved it. The other one is a see saw style structure, probably pretty difficult for younger ones to hang on to.

Also available in this park is a natural playground that I am sad to say we didn’t get a chance to explore due to a pop-up thunderstorm. We ducked for cover and had to leave our little Garner excursion earlier than planned, so unfortunately no pictures of that area to show, and I couldn’t really find any on a quick search of the town’s website. I’ll update next time I visit!

Garner is 30-40 minutes from me, so I don’t anticipate this is somewhere that we drive to on a regular basis. But if you are in or near Garner take a few minutes to check it out.

The city motto for Garner is “a great place to be”. I haven’t explored much of it yet, but from what I’ve seen from the Garner parks, the motto seems to fit.
