***John Chavis Park is CURRENTLY UNDER RENNOVATIONS AS OF JULY 2018***

505 Martin Luther King Blvd. Raleigh, NC

John Chavis Park is south of downtown, not too far from Pullen Park and Roberts Park.  This park has a splash pad and wading pool, playground and an indoor carousel. I have not been to the pool and splash pad but I hope to visit soon – it looks nice!!

The carousel is similar to Pullen park, $1 tickets for each person to ride. It is smaller and has less animals to choose from. But still fun for kids. It is not super close to the playground and it is up a bunch of stairs – just FYI in case you are carrying a heavy tot!

The playground is a sand surface playground. The structure that stands out to me is the see saws… my kids loved them! The playground itself is a bit vintage – a couple metal slides that I like but …OUCH!! Too hot for summer. There’s a smaller toddler structure as well, mostly plastic. Also some ride on animals.

As of 2018 the park is under construction for a total revamp. They have demolished the pool and will be following the master plan as you can see in the image below. We can’t wait to see the finished park!
