2048 Carya Drive, Raleigh, NC

As described by the Wake county website,  “Historic Oak View County Park is a 19th-century historic farmstead with a mission to interpret North Carolina’s agricultural heritage and rural history via educational programs, special events and exhibits.” This park is also a part of the Wake County Junior Naturalist Program so if you’re participating in that, this is sure to be on your list of spots to visit!

Feed the Goats

The park has outdoor exhibits and gardens, as well as a few trails. They also have chickens onsite and goats you can feed baby carrots to, which is extremely exciting to my 3 year old!

these goats are pretty picky and only eat baby carrots!

Garden and Pond

Very beautiful grounds, a nice place to just walk around and explore agricultural history. There are historical buildings to explore, a garden, and a small pond.

Interactive Exhibits in the Barn

There are cute, kid friendly farming exhibits in the barn, like a tractor you can sit on, a pretend cow to milk, and pretend eggs to gather. A great place to visit if you have a variety of ages in your group.

Indoor Play Area

BUT what I really want to get to is this ADORABLE little play area they have inside!! We ran inside after being caught in a summer rain shower and we found this cute little area! The kids loved it and there was nearby seating for the adults as well. I love finding a new indoor play area for the kids, especially when it’s free!

There were no food cafes or vending machines that I saw, so be sure to bring in your own snacks! The restrooms are also inside next to the indoor play area, which is super convenient!

Classes and Events

Oak View hosts tons of amazing events throughout the year, from farm tours, story times, pecan picking in November, and sleigh rides and historic Christmas tours in December.

Checking the real chicken coop to gather any eggs they laid
Reading a farm story before taking a tour
